The objective of the Empowerment, Art, Resilience, Teaching, and Healing (EARTH) campaign is to provide accessible resources to the most vulnerable populations of all ages who are at risk of developing serious mental health conditions to acquire psycho-educational tools, skills, and activities that reduce ongoing stress, prevent serious mental health conditions and decrease isolation.
Ohana Center’s website offers a free online platform to community members full of information regarding weekly exercise, art, and wellness activities. The app will be used to promote psycho-educational coping skills and preventative wellness strategies and links to community resources, as well as the biweekly locations for Ohana Center outreach events.
Through the EARTH online classes/sessions, Ohana Center staff and volunteers will facilitate online community groups that reduce social isolation through the promotion of communication and social connections with others. Group topics will include breathing exercises, sound baths, exercise, and art activities. One online group will occur once a month. The target number of participants for each class session is 10-20 individuals.
Conduct outreach and engagement efforts to “at-risk” individuals and families to ensure that gaps of services and supports are further decreased. The aim is to promote the wellness practices that are vital in decreasing conditions that can cause mental health conditions such as prolonged isolation and improve social and personal interactions that are necessary for personal wellbeing.
Adhering to Covid-19 protocol, Ohana Center’s (EARTH) program will outreach to local community agencies, schools, youth camps, senior living facilities, parking lots, and parks in order to provide at-risk community members with 100 art and wellness kits a month (50 kits each bi-weekly outreach). (EARTH) outreach activities aim to provide practical tools that participants can take home to utilize for stress management, community building, and individual and family growth through empowerment.
