SHARA Program

​Ohana Center's SHARA Program

SHARA = Sisters Healing and Rising Through Adversity was a collaborative effort of three black-led organizations from the Antelope Valley. Through networking and coalition building Luna Sol Yoga, Youth Leadership Coalition and Ohana Center AV strive to reduce recidivism in the Black and Brown communities. Promote holistic healing, emotional, and psychological well being that reduces stress and improves individual empowerment. 

SHARA program will provide holistic and culturally congruent services that promote healthy connections to children, family, significant others, and the community. Services will address substance use disorder, trauma, and mental illness by providing the participants with resources, opportunities, knowledge, and coping skills needed to improve self-sufficiency and reduce recidivism. 

Program Services:

  • Trauma-informed yoga
  • Mindfulness
  • Harm reduction
  • Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT)
  • Art and journaling workshops
  • Linkage to services 
  • Case management 
Program Requirements: 
  • Identify as a Black African-American or Latinx woman
  • Ages 17 and up
  • involvement in the justice system within the last 2yrs
