Black Birthworker Collaborative

The Black Birthworker Community Collaborative

The Black Birthworker Community Collaborative provides a safe space for birth workers to connect with their clients, enhance their skills, and network with one another. The Collaborative aims to host quarterly training sessions throughout the year for birth workers in the Antelope Valley and surrounding areas, with the goal of training a minimum of 50 to 75 Black birth workers each year.
In partnership with community-based organizations and practitioners, these free training sessions will cover various topics, including strategies for maternal mental health, doula training, pelvic floor training, lactation support training, and holistic care modalities.
The Black Birthworker Collaborative advocates for coalition-building and networking among local birth workers. It promotes social advocacy and community organizing by engaging team members who are active in local African American maternal health initiatives, such as First 5 and Help Me Grow. By combining a supportive learning environment with advocacy efforts, the Collaborative addresses the need for a nurturing space within the community.
